STRYPER – Anaheim 1985 (2CD)

Audience 8.6 – It sounds like this tape has gone through a lot of mastering trying to find a way to mitigate it’s flaws, and by some extent I would say it was successful…but at the cost of taking out some of the good aspects of the EQ. What I mean to say is that if they had not taken the effort, you would be listening to a lot of screechiness, it is evident that this tape had overloaded high end. Now that some of the offending frequencies have been removed, it is much more listenable and can actually be enjoyed once your ears settle in to the odd mix. Not one of the best, but neither is it garbage and the fact of the matter is that we don’t have an abundance of tapes from Stryper’s first tour. This set list is also great, so I forgive the imperfections and applaud the mastering efforts.
