THE WHO – Time Machine 1970-1972 (5CD)

Metropolitan Opera House NY 1970 Audience 8.4 – A decent tape considering we have very few US 1970 tour audience tapes that sound great. A little sweetening with EQ and you’ve just raised the sound rating another half a point…technology has changed the way collectors think about these old audience source tapes.

Newcastle 1971 Audience 8.7 – A surprising new find!  Buried for decades and now dusted off, restored and presented for your approval. It’s not bad!  I can hear it all, with some cool atmosphere. I rather like it!

San Francisco 1971 Audience 8.8 – This tape has some depth to it, where you get definition in the bass and not just “low end” which I appreciate. Roger rises above in the sound mix but on this tape nobody is drowned out, it’s evenly mixed and that makes it enjoyable. Some background noise which sounds like it is coming from the house PA but not during the band performing…all in all this is a real good one.
