    AEROSMITH – Backstage Pass 1974-1977 (3CD)

Original price was: $28.49.Current price is: $26.49.
CD 1 - Audience 7.7 - A very rare tape that only recently surfaced. Hard to complain when presented with something as rare, so just be aware that the tape was recorded in the middle of the venue and features a boomy, echoey sound. CD 2 - A very good recording, clear and immersive, you can really get into this one. CD 3 Surprisingly clear, a welcome addition to the not so well documented 1977 period where the band starts to really fray around the edges (and in the middle!) but that is not evident here – this is the band in fine form.
  • Audience  8.1 - Small club sound, a little bit muffled but guitars, vocals and harmonica and even piano come through fine and all in all I think once your ears adjust you can enjoy this. A wild night of rock and roll for sure!
  • Pro Radio Broadcast  9.1 - Legendary WCBN live broadcast when the band were peaking and sounding so good. What happened?
  • Soundboard 9.9 - This nearly brought me to tears. I always knew this band could reach the highest level of quality, in performance, in tone, in showmanship, and here it is. Yeah, sure, I know what you are thinking: “it’s mid 80’s Aerosmith, it’s the doldrums of rock, it’s a washed up bunch of druggies” but I have to tell you that if this marks a “comeback” then it’s the most amazing comeback I have ever heard. I’ve heard tons of live Aerosmith and I take this show over ALL of them. Just listen to how everyone plays off each other, how well they know each other it's like the magic has returned and they know it. Aerosmith The Orpheum Theater Boston, MA. • Incredible early collection featuring performances from 1973 taken from master tapes and never sounding better, and more complete. Simply the best Aerosmith early live collection ever produced.

  • Incredible early collection featuring performances from 1976 taken from master tapes and never sounding better, and more complete. Simply the best Aerosmith early live collection ever produced.
  • Soundboard  8.4 - A bit compressed, some obvious nr was used in mastering but still not too bad with everything evenly mixed.
  • Audience  9.1 - Excellent dynamics, bass is tight, a good warm and clear recording!
  • FM Broadcast  8.8 - A fantastic early document!
  • Audience 8.5 - A total time capsule, I mean, if you want to know what the 70's sounded like just pop this CD in. Kind of dated but hippie cool. Sound is good, but a little crowded in the middle and raucous in a fun way. Your ears will bump into the guy next to you, and you'll be pushed and shoved a little but man, you are at the show having a blast. The thing about listening to mid 70's live Aerosmith is you are always kind of tuning in to hear signs of the impending train-wreck about to happen at any minute and I guess that is the charm of it. This recording is the train wrecking, but as I said it's in a pretty phun way. AEROSMITH Cleveland Coliseum Cleveland, Ohio 1976-06-28 01. JAWS INTRO 02. MAMA KIN 03. WRITE ME 04. S.O.S. • FM Broadcast  9.3 - Crisp and airy, with hardly any complaints but if I were to do so, I would have toned down the guitars actually as I found sometimes they were actually too up front…some people would prefer that though. A great one no matter.
